Verse 3 • Don't praise pride, and produce no jealousy...

Don't praise pride, and produce no jealousy.
Don't covet treasures, and thieves tend not to be.
Don't inspire desire, and the hearts of men stay free.
 
The wise man rules the people so;
Emptying their hearts, he makes their bellies grow.
While in cunning they grow dumb,
Braced of bone they do become.
 
He makes them innocent, without desire;
And so the cunning can't conspire.
By his act of being whole entire,
All order comes to be.
