Verse 9 • Don't fill your cup up past the brim...
Don't fill your cup up past the brim,
But stop before you reach the rim.
Don't try to hone too keen a wedge,
Or your sword won't keep its edge.
Though gold and treasure fill your hall,
Never try to keep it all.
For too much pride in wealth or place,
Can be the cause of great disgrace.
Step back when your work is done,
Such is heaven's way, and fun.
